![]() by the Gelächter Trio: This recording is inspired by our passion to promote contemporary British compositions for the wind trio, and to expand the repertoire to show how truly virtuosic and fun this ensemble can be. These characteristics shine through the music of Cecilia McDowall and Andrew Wilson. We also asked Timothy Salter to write us a piece with an extra challenge for the performers, and he came up with the idea of adding hand held percussion instruments for us to play. The final track of the album, Marc Yeats' Dark Matter, may sound like a departure from the theme, but his universe soon explodes into a quirky kaleidoscope of passion, energy and joy. Each composer on this album brings a different quality to this combination of instruments which we hope shows you just how versatile and exciting current British composers are!
